What is the Legacy Academy After School Program?
The Legacy Academy After School Program represents an affordable & fun alternative to other types of after school care. This is a program that your child will not only enjoy but will teach them martial arts and self defense skills that will benefit them over a lifetime. Other organized activities include a range of fitness and group athletic games as well as group lessons in gymnastics tumbling and arts & crafts. Children are also encouraged to make use of our comfortable study and recreational areas during their free time.

What are the pick up and drop off times for the After School Program?
Enrolled children are picked up at fourteen elementary schools in the West Madison - Fitchburg - Verona, Wisconsin area and following the conclusion of the school day and transported by designated busses to the Legacy Academy in Fitchburg. The parent pickup time is between 5:00 pm – 6:15 pm.

When did the After School program start?
The after school program started on September 4, 2007 and is now in its third year of operation.

What area schools are serviced with bus transportation?
The 15 elementary schools that are provided with free bus/van transport during the 2008-2009 school year include: Huegel, Chavez, Leopold, Orchard Ridge, Edgewood Campus, Midvale, Stephens, St. Maria Goretti, Eagle, Country View, Stoner Prairie, Sugar Creek, New Century, Core Knowledge, and Glacier Edge. Transportation from other area schools may be added for the After School Program during the current school year.

How much does the After School Program cost?
The weekly tuition is $78.00 per child during the 2008-09 school year (a daily average of only $15.60) or $149.00 for two siblings. There is also a one-time nominal $10.00 registration fee assessed for each child at the time of enrollment which includes a karate uniform and an academy t-shirt.

What age group does the After School Program and Summer Camp Program apply to?
These youth activity programs are primarily for 7 to 12 year olds. State law only permits the academy to accommodate up to three children under the age of 7 at any one time for these particular youth programs.

Are facility tours available?
Yes, we are open each school day by 2:30 pm, or earlier on early release days during the school year, and are open by 7:00 am on summer weekdays during the summer camp program. We are also open daily (including weekends) from 10:00 am to noon during the non-summer months for our Youngsters Open Gym program. Encompassing 6,000 square feet, our versatile indoor playground facility is one of the largest childrens activity venues in Dane County.

Is all-day coverage available when schools are not in session?
The academy will be open all day during the school year on days when area elementary schools are not in session such as during teacher union conventions, parent-teacher conferences, and teacher in-service days. The tuition for one day of all-day coverage is $35.00 per child. The cost of all-day coverage during an entire week, such as during Winter or Spring Breaks, is $150.00 for one child or $283.00 for two siblings. This program is primarily for children 7 to 12 years old (state law only allows the academy to accommodate up to three children under the age of 7 at any one time for this program). Regular participation in the Legacy After School Program is not necessary to take advantage of our all-day coverage program during the school year.
· Will the Legacy Academy again be offering a summer camp program available in 2009?
Yes, the academy hosted a well received youth summer camp program primarily or children 7 to 12 years old in 2008 & 2009 and will do so again starting during the week of June 13, 2010. State law only permits the academy to allow up to three children under the age of seven at a time into this program.
The program will again include daily supervised field trips to various local attractions and three day trips to Wisconsin Dells. Visits will frequently be made in 2010 to swimming pools, Ultra Zone laser tag, Pump It Up, the Star Cinema, Ten Pins Bowling, Fast Forward Roller Skating, the Vilas Zoo, Seminole Glen Park, etc. The academy takes pride in offering one of the finest youth summer camps in Dane County and does so at a reasonable price.

Does the Legacy Academy offer an open gym program?
Youngsters Open Gym hours are open to the public and held seasonally from October through May. Preschoolers and other pre-teen children are welcome to participate. On-site supervision of children by an adult relative or nanny is required of any children under the age of 7. The user charge for each two-hour open gym session is $5.00 per child with no charge for supervising adults or tots under the age of one. Coupon books good for 30 child-visits may also be purchased for $135.00 ($4.50 per child-visit). Is the Legacy Academy available to host parties for children's birthdays and other special events? Yes, the Legacy Academy may be rented for birthday parties, holiday parties, neighborhood gatherings, and other special group events. Adult relatives and/or nannies are required to be present to supervise the children. Parties of up to 75 attendees may be comfortably accommodated. The $140.00 party fee includes exclusive use of the entire 6,000 square foot academy for a scheduled two-hour party. A 50% down payment will reserve your preferred party time slot. Will the Legacy Academy be soon offering a Parents Night Out program? The academy started a weekly Parents Night Out program in April, 2009 and has been offering it every Friday thereafter, excepting holidays. Parents can drop off their elementary school age children at the academy in the early evening and then pick them up anytime up to 10:15 pm. This program is open to the general public and the admission price is $15.00 per child. Participating children will have an opportunity to enjoy open play time at our indoor playground and recreation room and will then, at about 6:40 pm, be treated to pizza, soda or a juice box, and a frozen confection for dessert. Afterwards the kids will have the option to continue with open play & games or alternatively can watch a movie on our large video screen.
